welcome, thunderbirds!

Our PTA is a dedicated group of parents, teachers, and administrators who work together to provide resources and programs to all families in our school community.

The PTA supports the quality of education at Trailwood Elementary with strategic investments in curriculum materials, enrichment and instructional programs, and general support of our community that directly enhance the school's mission of excellence for all Trailwood students.

special person's lunch

Your child is invited to participate in this year's Special Person's Lunch! This is an opportunity for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other special people in a child’s life to come to school during lunch. It is suggested that special people come on the date listed below, but if that doesn't work, the special person may attend any of the following three days:

For students with last names starting with A-G, please come on Wednesday, 11/20.

For students with last names starting with H-N, please come on Thursday, 11/21.

For students with last names starting with O-Z, please come on Friday, 11/22.

If the special person has multiple siblings they want to connect with during one lunch period, please make plans with the child’s family and teachers. We can have all kids eat at one time if that is the preference.

A special person may bring in outside food for themselves and the student, if they prefer. Or he or she may purchase a hot lunch at the school for $4.30. Please bring cash and exact change.

We hope to see you there!

thanksgiving pies needed

Let’s show our Trailwood teachers and staff how thankful we are for them by sending them home with a pie for Thanksgiving! Pies can be store bought or homemade.

Please deliver your pie to the office by 11:00 am on Friday, November 22nd. Volunteer to bring a pie at the Signup Genius below.

thunderbird bowl-o-rama

Our 2nd Annual Trailwood Thunderbird Bowl-O-Rama was a huge success! We had a great time at Ward Parkway Lanes where we hung out with old and new friends, enjoyed lots of bowling fun, and raised funds for a new gaga ball pit!

Thank you to all who contributed to this cause by purchasing tickets, being an event sponsor, making donations and/or entering our raffle! We had a fabulous evening and are looking forward to a new gaga ball pit for our students coming soon!

We were incredibly fortunate to have many generous sponsors at the Bowl-O-Rama! Please give these amazing businesses (many of whom are run by fellow Trailwood parents) a big "thank you" the next time you see them!

School is underway; routines are setting in and our kids will be meeting new friends and having fun reuniting with old ones! That means it's time for the parents to get the chance to mingle with new and old friends!

Grade level parties that are the perfect opportunity to meet other parents, enjoy adult conversation as well as food and beverages.

Proceeds from these awesome events go to the PTA and their efforts in funding opportunities such as field trips, mini-grants, cultural events, classroom supplies and much more!

Tickets are $25 each and are available for purchase at the link below.

cafeteria volunteers needed

Whether you can help a little or a lot, we’d love to have you as a cafeteria volunteer this school year! Your time commitment is only one hour, but it makes a huge difference for our students and staff. Responsibilities include opening drinks and food packages and assisting our lunchroom aides.

Together, we can create a positive mealtime experience for all! See the sign up below!

MEMBERSHIP and yearbook sales happening now

You can support the amazing work of our PTA by purchasing a membership! Becoming a member does not obligate you to attend meetings or volunteer (although, we’d love to have you!). Your support allows us to provide our students, staff and families with a variety of fun and educational opportunities here at Trailwood!

You can also purchase your child’s yearbook and pay their yearly activity fee here. Yearbooks are a fantastic way for kids to reminisce on all the fun they had at Trailwood Elementary and will be delivered in May.

Volunteer as a wingman

Calling all Trailwood dads and father figures!

This fall, please consider taking a half-day or full-day out of your busy schedules and spending some time in your child's classroom as a Wingman! This is a great opportunity to interact with the kids and see what they do every day! Your schedule will vary depending on the needs of the day, but you can plan on spending most of your day with your kiddo(s) in the classroom, on the playground or at specials.

Volunteers can choose the dates and times (half-days or full-days) and can float between classrooms (if more than one child is attending Trailwood). Be on the lookout for a SignUp Genius coming soon!

Please contact Leif Peterson with any questions.

become an mvp and make a difference

We hope you'll consider becoming an MVP this year! This designation is given to adult volunteers in SMSD who would like the opportunity to work with/supervise kids on their own. These relationships are positively powerful for the child (and the adult), and we can always use people to serve in this role!

Trailwood will be hosting two MVP training opportunities in September. Please join us on 9/9 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm or on 9/17 from 8:30 - 9:30 am. Reservations are not required.

For more information on the MVP program and training dates, please use the link below. Please contact social worker Brenna Sandefur-Farrar if you have any additional questions.

2024 - 2025 PTA MEETINGs

We hope you'll join us for our next PTA meeting of the year on Thursday, November 15th, at 8:15 am in the Commons.

Please come with your questions about everything Trailwood. Our monthly meetings are great opportunities to get to know each other and find out more about our fabulous community! Everyone is invited to attend! Children are always welcome!

We hope to see you there!
