MEMBERSHIP and yearbook sales happening now

Now is the time to purchase a PTA membership and support the work of our PTA!

Becoming a member does not obligate you to attend meetings or volunteer (although, we’d love to have you!). Your support allows us to provide our students, staff and families with a variety of fun and educational opportunities here at Trailwood!

You are also able to purchase your child’s yearbook and pay their yearly activity fee at this time. Yearbooks are a fantastic way for kids to reminisce on all the fun they had at Trailwood Elementary and will be delivered at the end of the year.

Please direct any questions to Emily Meissen-Sebelius.

pta presents "the anxious generation"

You are invited to attend the Trailwood PTA presentation "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt and discussion on September 10th, at 6:30 pm.

We will begin by watching a video created by the author that gives an excellent overview of the book. After the presentation, we will break into smaller groups for discussion. The discussion will be facilitated by questions to help encourage connection and collective action in our community. You do not need to read the book before the event. There will be a raffle for several free books donated by David Westbrook and his friends at Rainy Day Books.

If you have any questions, please contact Alexandra Watkins.

Please use the sign up link below so that we can have an approximate headcount.

Don't miss out on our annual Donuts with Grownups event taking place on Tuesday, September 9th, from 7:30 - 8:10 am on the big playground. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a yummy breakfast treat with your kiddo, meet some other Trailwood families, and connect with old friends!

movie night is coming soon

Don't miss out on our first Movie Night of the year on September 11th in the Trailwood Commons. The doors will open at 6:00 pm, and the movie will begin at 6:30 pm.

Kids are encouraged to bring blankets and pillows, and adults may bring folding chairs on which to sit in the back. Please remember that children must be accompanied by an adult.

The movie is free, but we will have concessions for sale, so feel free to bring some cash with you (small bills, if possible). Concession sales help us to cover the cost of our annual movie license, so please consider donating some store-bought, nut-free treats to the event! We also need some volunteers to help us run the concession stand. Be on the lookout for a Signup Genius coming soon!

cafeteria volunteers needed

Whether you can help a little or a lot, we’d love to have you as a cafeteria volunteer this school year! Your time commitment is only one hour, but it makes a huge difference for our students and staff. Responsibilities include opening drinks and food packages and assisting our lunchroom aides.

Together, we can create a positive mealtime experience for all! Sign up at the link below!

dining partners

Dining partner events are amazing ways to support Trailwood while also enjoying some delicious food and supporting our community partners.

Do you know of a business that would be interested in learning more about the dining partners program? Please reach out to Cher Brownback, if so!

And, be sure to check out the information below for details on other great ways to give back!

Chair a committee

We still have a few committees in need of chairs for the 2025-2026 school year!

Please reach out to Cher Brownback if you have additional questions or are interested in being a volunteer.

donate to the pta

Want to further support the work of your Trailwood PTA? Check back at the beginning of the school year for a link to make a donation of your choosing!

Donations to the PTA help us to fulfill our mission of providing resources and programs to all members of the Trailwood community.

Thank you for your generosity!

Volunteer as a wingman

Calling all Trailwood dads and father figures!

Please consider taking a half-day or full-day out of your busy schedules and spending some time at Trailwood as a Wingman! This is a great opportunity to interact with the kids and see what they do every day! Your schedule will vary depending on the needs of the day and will include all grade levels, assisting with math and reading groups, specials, recess and lunchroom assistance for the younger grades.

Volunteers can choose the dates and times (half-days or full-days) and can float between classrooms.

While you don't have to be trained as an MVP to volunteer in this capacity, we do recommend it so that you will be able to work with students on your own. Trailwood will host two MVP trainings in the fall. Please join us on either September 4th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm or on September 16th from 8:30 am - 9:30 am.

Be on the lookout for a SignUp Genius coming at the beginning of the school year!

Please contact Leif Peterson with any questions.

become an mvp and make a difference

We hope you'll consider becoming an MVP next school year! This designation is given to adult volunteers in SMSD who would like the opportunity to work with/supervise kids on their own. These relationships are positively powerful for the child (and the adult), and we can always use people to serve in this role!

Trailwood will host two MVP trainings in the fall. Please join us on either September 4th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm or on September 16th from 8:30 am - 9:30 am.

For more information on the MVP program and alternative training dates, please use the link below. Please contact social worker Brenna Sandefur-Farrar if you have any additional questions.

2025 - 2026 PTA MEETINGs

We hope you'll join us for our first PTA meeting of the 2025 - 2026 school year on Tuesday, September 9th, at 8:15 am in the Band Room. This meeting will take place after our annual Donuts with Grownups event on the playground.

Please come with your questions about everything Trailwood. Our monthly meetings are great opportunities to get to know each other and find out more about our fabulous community! Everyone is invited to attend! Children are always welcome!

We hope to see you there!
