Our PTA is a dedicated group of parents, teachers, and administrators who work together to provide resources and programs to all famies in our school community.
The PTA supports the quality of education at Trailwood Elementary with strategic investments in curriculum materials, enrichment and instructional programs, and general support of our community that directly enhance the school's mission of excellence for all Trailwood students.

NOTE FROM THE SMSD CENTRAL OFFICE
Dear Families,
As we finish up this school year, we also look ahead to the next. We always enjoy welcoming everyone back to a new year! Watch for information via email and the district website (www.smsd.org) about online verification/filling out school forms this July.
We also know sometimes families will not be able to return to our school community for a variety of reasons. If you know that your student(s) will not be returning to our school, or a move is planned, please contact the school office and let us know. This helps our school prepare in a number of ways for the next school year.
Thank you for being a part of our school community. We wish you a wonderful summer!
save the date for popsicle pop in
While you are enjoying your summer break, don't forget to mark your calendars for our first event of the 2026 - 2027 school year, Popsicle Pop-In, on Tuesday, August 11th from 4:00 - 5:30 pm.
This is a fun event where students and families may drop off school supplies, meet teachers and enjoy a tasty treat with new and old friends!
thank you, trailwood community!
The 2026 Trailwood Auction was a huge success! Your generosity and support mean the world to the students, staff, teachers and families of Trailwood Elementary.
Our PTA supports a variety of activities at the school, such as cultural arts programs, field trips, community events, enhanced learning experiences, teacher stipends, staff appreciation and mini grants, just to name a few! Your continued support will allow us to continue to provide these experiences to our community, and we are so grateful!

MEMBERSHIP and yearbook sales coming in august
You'll have the opportunity to purchase a PTA membership and support the work of our PTA for the 2026 - 2027 school year soon!
Becoming a member does not obligate you to attend meetings or volunteer (although, we’d love to have you!). Your support allows us to provide our students, staff and families with a variety of fun and educational opportunities here at Trailwood!
You are also able to purchase your child’s yearbook and pay their yearly activity fee at this time. Yearbooks are a fantastic way for kids to reminisce on all the fun they had at Trailwood Elementary and will be delivered at the end of the year.
Stay tuned for all the details once school resumes in August!
dining partners
Dining partner events are amazing ways to support Trailwood while also enjoying some delicious food and supporting our community partners.
Do you know of a business that would be interested in learning more about the dining partners program for the upcoming school year? Please reach out to Sarah McGinnity, if so!
And, be sure to check out the information below for details on other great ways to give back!
Chair a committee
We still have a few committees in need of chairs for the 2026-2027 school year!
Please reach out to Sarah McGinnity if you have additional questions or are interested in being a volunteer.
donate to the pta
Want to further support the work of your Trailwood PTA? Check back at the beginning of the school year for a link to make a donation of your choosing!
Donations to the PTA help us to fulfill our mission of providing resources and programs to all members of the Trailwood community.
Thank you for your generosity!
Volunteer as a wingman
Calling all Trailwood dads and father figures!
Please consider taking a half-day or full-day out of your busy schedules and spending some time at Trailwood as a Wingman! This is a great opportunity to interact with the kids and see what they do every day! Your schedule will vary depending on the needs of the day and will include all grade levels, assisting with math and reading groups, specials, recess and lunchroom assistance for the younger grades.
Volunteers can choose the dates and times (half-days or full-days) and can float between classrooms.
While you don't have to be trained as an MVP to volunteer in this capacity, we do recommend it so that you will be able to work with students on your own. Click here for more information on the MVP program and on future training dates that you can attend.
The link to sign up for a date to volunteer will be available in August.
Please contact Leif Peterson with any questions.
become an mvp and make a difference
We hope you'll consider becoming an MVP next school year! This designation is given to adult volunteers in SMSD who would like the opportunity to work with/supervise kids on their own. These relationships are positively powerful for the child (and the adult), and we can always use people to serve in this role!
For more information on the MVP program and alternative training dates, please use the link below. Please contact social worker Brenna Sandefur-Farrar if you have any additional questions.
2026 - 2027 PTA MEETINGs
While our PTA meetings for the 2025 - 2026 school year have ended, we hope you'll consider joining us for some of our monthly meetings next school year! Our monthly meetings are great opportunities to get to know each other and find out more about our fabulous community! Everyone is invited to attend. Children are always welcome!
Be on the lookout for a schedule of meetings coming at the beginning of the school year!
We hope to see you there!
HAVE YOU UPDATED YOUR DIRECTORY INFORMATION?
It is always a great time to make sure your contact information is up-to-date! Keeping your directory account updated ensures that you receive important PTA information throughout the year (even in the summer!) and helps you to connect with other Trailwood families during the school year and summer months.
